A very interesting seal of Constantine I (?)
Lot 2644
ROMAN. Constantine I (?), 307-337. Seal (Lead, 15 mm, 3.00 g). ...D-N... (?) Draped and bare-headed bust of a Caesar facing to the right, confronting a draped and laureate bust of an Augustus facing to left; below, lion standing to right, looking back; in the outer fields, two Victories crowning the imperial busts with wreaths. Rev. Blank. Unpublished in the standard references. An interesting dynastic seal with an unusually complex design. Very fine.

Style and fabric suggest a dating of this interesting imperial seal to the Constantinian times. The lion might refer to the Legio XIII Gemina, which was stationed in Dacia at this time, but such an attribution must remain speculative
